Description

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Own category performance across key business metrics including sales growth, profitability, market share, and brand equity.
  • Define portfolio architecture including product roles, pricing strategies, consumer occasion mapping, and annual investment allocation across multiple premium brands.
  • Lead the long-term innovation and renovation pipeline, including business case development and approval processes.
  • Contribute to strategic storytelling, campaign brief development, and creative direction for priority initiatives.

    Team Leadership
  • Lead and coach a small team of Brand Managers through clear objective setting, ongoing feedback, and development planning.
  • Review and approve annual brand strategies, activation calendars, and performance KPIs.
  • Provide hands-on leadership for high-priority projects and complex cross-functional initiatives to ensure strong execution quality.

    Planning, Performance & Governance
  • Drive annual category planning, monthly business reviews, and budget management.
  • Establish measurement frameworks including media effectiveness and brand health tracking, while promoting a test-and-learn culture.
  • Ensure all activities comply with corporate policies, legal requirements, and brand guidelines.

    Execution Oversight
  • Manage external agency partners across creative, media, PR, and research functions to ensure high-quality local execution aligned with global standards.
  • Support key campaigns and product launches requiring elevated strategic and creative oversight.

    Global & Regional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with global and regional marketing stakeholders to align on strategy, portfolio priorities, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate adaptation of global assets and guidelines for the local market while representing local business needs in planning discussions.
  • Share local market insights to help shape regional and global communication, innovation, and portfolio strategies.

    Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales and Customer/Channel Marketing teams on category priorities, pricing strategies, and commercial focus areas.
  • Ensure clear translation of brand strategies into customer and channel execution plans.
  • Collaborate with Finance on planning, investment management, pricing, and profitability, and partner with Supply Chain teams on demand forecasting and inventory planning.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in brand, category, or portfolio marketing within a multinational environment.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and project management capabilities.
  • Experience working with global and regional stakeholders in matrix organizations.
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English preferred.
